The 11th Sino-French History and Culture Workshop held at ECNU
On September 9-13, 2014, East China Normal University hosted the 11th Sino-French History and Culture Workshop, which attracted scholars from China, France, and Switzerland. Founded in 2004, the workshop was initially sponsored by ECNU, the French History Society of China, the Maison de Science de L’Homme of France, and the University of Paris. The University of Cergy-Pontoise (France) and the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) joined as co-sponsors in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
Professor Pan Xinming of SAIAS chaired the opening ceremony of the workshop. Distinguished guests included ECNU vice-president Fan Jun, ECNU assistant president Gao Wei, SAIAS Dean Feng Shaolei, and various scholars from the World History Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences as well as the French History Society of China. A few French, German, and Swiss consular officials stationed in Shanghai also attended the ceremony. Some SAIAS faculty and graduate students participated in the event too.
